A new state program aimed at protecting the environment and improving the ecological situation has been adopted in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The document, signed by the President, defines priority directions in the field of ecology across the country and aims to implement specific tasks. According to the program, measures will be taken not only to improve air quality but also to use resources rationally, expand green areas, and introduce energy-saving technologies.
Special attention is given to stabilizing the natural gas supply for greenhouse farms in Tashkent city and Tashkent region. By the end of 2025, the gas demand of greenhouses, existing energy capacities, and opportunities for using alternative energy sources will be studied.
In addition, responsibility for facilities using harmful fuels will be strengthened, and new legislation aimed at reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere will be developed. Starting from December 1, restrictions on the sale of AI-80 gasoline will be introduced, which will promote the consumption of environmentally friendly fuel.
Furthermore, the movement of freight vehicles in Tashkent will be restricted during peak hours. This measure is aimed at improving city air quality and reducing traffic congestion.
Significant changes are also expected in the construction sector by 2026. Installation of online cameras and monitoring systems at construction sites will be mandatory.
This will allow control over dust and pollution levels. Standards regarding wind direction and air circulation in construction will be developed.
Within the framework of the "Green Tashkent" project, work will be carried out to expand green areas in the capital, renew the landscape, and introduce modern irrigation systems. Additionally, a special forestry enterprise will be established, and its activities will be launched by the end of 2025.
Permits related to tree cutting will only be considered collegially. The Ministry of Ecology will now operate as an independent committee.
Within the committee, an Eco-Police will be established, granted broad powers to combat environmental violations. Local government bodies will be strictly prohibited from reviewing documents related to tree cutting.
This program is expected to significantly improve the ecological environment in Tashkent and other regions. These initiatives are aimed at preserving public health and creating a healthy environment for future generations.
