Concerns are growing regarding the deterioration of air quality in Tashkent city. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Experts emphasize that one of the main sources of pollution is motor vehicles. According to Aziz Abduhakimov, head of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, it has been found that AI-80 grade gasoline has a particularly harmful effect.
For this reason, the sale and import of this fuel will be completely banned starting from December 1. This was reported by qumita.uz.
According to Aziz Abduhakimov, AI-80 gasoline has been widely used for many years due to its affordability and has had a significant impact on air pollution in Tashkent city in particular. This decision is expected to help improve the ecological situation in the capital.
Experts note that the number of cars in Tashkent has sharply increased in recent years. Currently, nearly one million vehicles move through the city streets daily.
Of these, 650 thousand are registered in Tashkent, while 300–350 thousand cars come from the regions. For comparison, five years ago this figure was almost twice as low.
Additionally, the green, yellow, and red sticker system introduced to regulate traffic flow and improve air quality may also prove effective. According to Aziz Abduhakimov, the experience of other countries shows that such methods gradually phase out old and environmentally harmful vehicles from circulation.
Officials believe that such measures are an important step aimed at cleaning Tashkent's air and reducing ecological problems.
