The territory of Samarkand city is expanding. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to Sherzod Asadov, head of the Presidential press service, as a result of incorporating parts of the districts of Oqdaryo, Payariq, Pastdarg‘om, Toyloq, and Samarkand into the city, the area will expand to 17.5 thousand hectares. At the same time, the population is expected to increase from the current 604 thousand to 882 thousand people.
With the growth of the city's population, the demand for modern housing is increasing. To meet this need, the construction of multi-story residential buildings is planned in three large complexes.
Specifically, the “Shirin” complex will accommodate 180 thousand, “Temiryo‘l orti” 100 thousand, and “Qorasuv-2” 30 thousand residents. Schools, kindergartens, higher education institutions, hospitals, business centers, shopping complexes, and recreational areas will also be built in these areas.
In addition, 49 organizations from the Samarkand region will be relocated to the “Shirin” complex next year. By the end of the year, a new bridge over the “Qoradaryo” river, 577 meters long, is planned to be put into operation.
Moreover, in cooperation with Spanish investors, the sewage system in three complexes will be fully modernized. To improve the city's infrastructure and reduce the flow of trucks, the construction of four logistics centers along the highway in the districts of Oqdaryo, Toyloq, and Samarkand is also planned.
These projects will serve the economic and social development of Samarkand (source: one.uz).
