On December 3, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held a meeting dedicated to the ongoing work and future plans for the development of the chemical industry. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The meeting discussed issues related to increasing production in the chemical industry, reducing costs, and expanding export volumes. The President emphasized that by 2030, it is planned to double the production capacities of the chemical industry, increase the production of mineral fertilizers by 1.5 times, and raise export volumes to 1 billion dollars.
Currently, 21 large-scale projects worth a total of 1 billion dollars are being implemented in the sector. Over the next three years, it is planned to launch new projects worth an additional 4.5 billion dollars.
The importance of introducing energy-saving technologies and digitalization was particularly highlighted during the meeting. Since 55 percent of the cost of nitrogen fertilizers corresponds to energy expenses, effective measures will be taken to optimize these costs.
Additionally, deep processing of local raw materials, production of new products, and doubling export volumes were identified as key tasks. Production of high value-added products such as "green" mineral fertilizers, potassium xanthogenate, and potassium sulfate has been established in the Tashkent, Navoi, and Jizzakh regions.
In 2025, the goal is to cultivate 4.5 million tons of cotton. To achieve this, efforts will be accelerated to form reserves of phosphate fertilizers, supply farmers with sulfuric acid, and provide preferential loans.
The President recognized the chemical industry as a strategic sector of the national economy. Clear tasks were set to ensure stable domestic market supply, increase export potential, and create new jobs.
