
In 2026, a large amount of funding is planned to be allocated for the development of Sirdaryo region. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In total, 11.5 trillion soums will be directed towards improving infrastructure and supporting entrepreneurship. This decision was made at an extraordinary session of the People's Deputies Council attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Out of the allocated funds, 753 billion soums will be directed to local budgets and spent on improving conditions. In addition, regional projects will be thoroughly developed and tasked to be presented to the attention of foreign investors.
The regional delegation will be sent to China to develop cooperation in sectors such as construction materials, chemistry, light industry, and pharmaceuticals. The "Uzbekistan—SCO" trade and industrial zone will be established in the city of Gulistan, creating 5,000 new jobs.
For entrepreneurs, industrial mortgages and leasing-based ready-made production facilities will be provided. Land plots in Sirdaryo region will be allocated under a simplified procedure for companies planning to relocate their production from Tashkent.
Additionally, they will be offered preferential loans up to 10 billion soums and reduced tariffs for raw material transportation by railway. Special attention will be paid to developing the region's human resource potential.
Deputy district governors will undergo advanced training in Beijing, and 50 young citizens will be given the opportunity to receive education in automobile maintenance in China. A vocational training center will be opened at Gulistan University based on the "Lu Ban Workshop" program, and an Uzbek-Chinese higher education institution specializing in pharmaceutical technologies will be established on the basis of the medical technical school.
In agriculture, the construction of the "Sultonhovuz" reservoir is planned in Boyovut district, with a capacity of 100 million cubic meters. This project will enable double cropping annually on 110,000 hectares of land across five districts.
Within the framework of modernizing transport infrastructure, a 37-kilometer section of the A-373 highway will be expanded and converted into six lanes. Additionally, 67 kilometers of roads in 18 neighborhoods will be repaired with cement concrete pavement.
These measures will significantly enhance the economic, social, and infrastructure potential of the region.
