Significant progress has been made in recent years in the use of solar energy in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In particular, small solar panels with a total capacity of 2000 MW have been installed in the private sector, residential homes, and social institutions. Since the beginning of 2025, these panels have produced nearly 2 billion kWh of environmentally friendly electricity.
This was announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Additionally, to improve the electricity supply in the country, 69 thousand kilometers of power lines and 14 thousand transformers have been upgraded.
High-voltage substations have also been modernized. For construction and supply works, business entities have delivered construction materials, cables, and other electrical equipment worth 700 million dollars.
New power plants are being built with active participation from the private sector. For example, the first hydroelectric power station of the Naryn cascade was launched with a capacity of 38 MW using local products.
According to the President, construction and electrical engineering enterprises in Uzbekistan have the potential to become large international companies. For instance, the Angren Energo plant has the capacity to produce 15 thousand transformers annually.
Moreover, the O‘zgidroenergo plant is designed to manufacture 155 hydro units per year. Such projects contribute to the sustainable development of the country's energy sector.
