Starting from December 9, 2025, the Tashkent metro will cease the operation of traditional ticket offices at 16 stations. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This decision was made to digitize the payment system and increase transparency. Modern infokiosks will replace the ticket offices.
The ticket offices will be closed at all 14 stations on the "Underground Ring Road" line, as well as at the "Pakhtakor" and "Alisher Navoi" stations. Passengers will be able to purchase QR-code tickets through the infokiosks.
These tickets can be used either on a mobile phone or in printed form. This system aims to reduce queues, decrease cash circulation, and make payments safer.
Currently, there are more than 10 methods available for metro passengers to pay the fare. In the near future, automated ATMs are also planned to be installed at many stations.
Due to the closure of ticket offices, the need for ticket operators is decreasing. In the first phase, 204 positions have been reduced.
By the end of the year, automated devices are expected to be fully installed at all stations, and the positions of ticket operators will be completely eliminated. Source: zamin.uz
