It has been reported that the water volume in the "Qorasuv" reservoir located in Payariq district of Samarkand region has been significantly decreasing in recent years. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This situation was announced by the Cosmo Monitoring channel, which monitors satellite images. The total capacity of the "Qorasuv" reservoir is 26.9 million cubic meters.
This reservoir provides the opportunity to irrigate 8,100 hectares of land. However, recent observations show that water reserves are decreasing year by year.
According to the data, in May 2019, the water volume in the reservoir reached 42.1 million cubic meters, which was even above the normative capacity. But today, the water volume has significantly decreased, and some parts of the reservoir have almost dried up.
Experts associate this situation with the rational use of water resources and climate change. There is a need to take appropriate measures regarding this issue.
