
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, signed a special decree on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the adoption of the country's Constitution. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to this decree, 615 persons who are serving sentences, sincerely remorseful for their actions, and firmly committed to the path of reform were pardoned. This decision was made based on Article 109, Clause 23 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Among those pardoned, 220 were fully released from punishment, 123 were conditionally released before the end of their sentence, and the sentences of 97 were replaced with lighter penalties. Additionally, the terms of imprisonment for 175 individuals were reduced.
Among those pardoned are 9 foreign nationals, 29 women, 23 men over the age of 60, and 264 young people, including 2 minors. Furthermore, 9 individuals had previously participated in the activities of banned organizations.
Within the framework of the decree's implementation, special measures have been established to support the families of the pardoned individuals and their reintegration into society. Relevant ministries and agencies have been assigned tasks to facilitate their return to social life, engagement in productive work, and adoption of a healthy lifestyle.
This decree serves to further strengthen the principles of humanity in the country.
