
Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev provided information about important plans to be implemented in the future during an event held on Constitution Day. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In his speech, he focused on the issue of separating the powers of governors and local council leaders. These changes are planned to be implemented starting from January 1, 2026.
According to the head of state, this measure serves to apply constitutional principles in practice, particularly ensuring that the people are the sole source of state power. In the President's speech, these reforms were assessed as an important step towards strengthening representative democracy and ensuring the rule of law.
At the same time, information was provided about the activities of local councils. It was noted that over 25,000 issues were considered by them during the past period, and nearly 14,000 deputy inquiries were sent to officials.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also mentioned achievements in social and humanitarian fields. In particular, it was acknowledged that the poverty rate has decreased to 6.6 percent and more than one million citizens have risen out of poverty.
The President emphasized that the main goal of the ongoing reforms is to protect human dignity. Additionally, the head of state spoke about the international recognition of reforms in Uzbekistan, the improvement of the country's position in the Sustainable Development Goals index, and the increase in sovereign credit ratings.
The holding of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand was also noted as one of the country's international successes. At the end of his speech, the President stressed that adopting every provision of the Constitution as a practical guideline for the activities of state bodies and educating youth based on constitutional values are among the important tasks.
