A new era has been announced in Uzbekistan's agriculture. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that major reforms will be implemented to fundamentally renew the cotton industry and introduce a modern scientific-theoretical approach. These changes aim not only to increase productivity in the sector but also to make it internationally competitive.
Developing new cotton varieties has been identified as one of the main directions for advancing cotton growing. Scientific centers plan to develop high-yield varieties by selecting local and foreign strains.
For this purpose, modern greenhouses and phytotrons will be established at the Genomics and Cotton Scientific Institutes. This infrastructure will accelerate the selection process and create conditions for producing varieties adapted to local conditions and suitable for export.
New benefits for farmers are also envisaged. The opportunity to purchase mineral fertilizers and fuel products through the exchange at prices 10–15 percent lower has been maintained.
This approach helps reduce production costs and increase the economic stability of farmers. Additionally, a special rating system will be introduced for farms growing cotton and grain.
Farmers who occupy high positions in the rating will receive additional benefits. For example, the interest rate on loans allocated from the Agricultural Fund has been set at 8 percent for cotton growing and 10 percent for grain.
Such an approach encourages farmers who achieve good results and strengthens healthy competition. The new reforms are aimed at valuing farmers' labor, enhancing the scientific approach, and increasing export potential.
These steps will bring the country's agriculture to a new level and are expected to show positive results in the coming years. Source: zamin.uz
