Abdulaziz Akkulov has been appointed as the new chairman in his place. It is reported that Umid Rustamovich Shodiev left the position due to moving to another job.
He had been leading the committee since July 27, 2023. The new leader, Abdulaziz Urolboyevich Akkulov, was born in 1985.
He graduated from Tashkent State University of Economics and is considered a specialist in economics and international tourism management. Akkulov has held leadership positions within the "Ozbektourism" national company system at various times.
Additionally, he has worked as deputy chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development and as deputy minister of Tourism and Sports. Later, Abdulaziz Akkulov was appointed as Uzbekistan's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.
With the specialist's return to the tourism system, it is expected that the development of the sector, expansion of international cooperation, and promotion of the country's tourism potential will enter a new phase.
