On December 27, 2025, an important decision was made aimed at developing local railway traffic. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to this decision, it is planned to significantly increase the volume of passenger transportation on domestic railway routes by 2030, expand the coverage of electric train services, and introduce new standards for service quality. One of the main goals set in the decision is to increase the annual number of passengers on local routes from the current 10.5 million to 23.5 million.
Additionally, the number of routes served by electric trains is expected to increase from 40 to 53. Modernization of strategically important railway sections such as Angren–Pop and Toshguzar–Boysun–Qumqo‘rg‘on has also been included among the priority tasks.
After these works are completed, it is planned to launch high-speed electric train services by 2030 in the Fergana Valley regions — Andijan, Namangan, Fergana, as well as Surkhandarya region. Furthermore, on the 465-kilometer-long “Bukhara–Khiva” railway line, where electrification works are expected to be fully completed, high-speed electric trains will begin operating on the Tashkent–Urgench–Khiva route starting from 2026.
Moreover, electrification works on the 196-kilometer-long “Miskin–Nukus” route are planned to be completed by the end of 2026. A modern and fast transport system will also be established in these areas.
According to experts, this decision will not only provide local residents with convenient and fast transport options but also serve as an important impetus for strengthening connections between regions and developing domestic tourism (source: zamin.uz).
