Age limit for lifeguarding: 18–30 years

It is planned to establish an age limit for recruitment to the position of rescuer in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
These changes will be implemented through proposed amendments to Article 9 of the Law "On Rescue Service and the Status of Rescuer." According to the draft law, only citizens of Uzbekistan aged between 18 and 30 will be accepted for recruitment to the rescuer position or for admission to educational institutions intended for training rescuers.
Candidates must have a general secondary education, pass a medical examination confirming their fitness for rescue activities. Additionally, they must meet the requirements for professional, physical, and moral-psychological readiness.
Currently, there are no age restrictions for recruitment to the rescuer position. Therefore, citizens aged between 18 and 50 have been accepted for this position.
According to data, currently, within the Ministry of Emergency Situations system, 1,658 rescuers aged between 40 and 50 and 826 rescuers over 50 years old are active. According to experts, the activity of older rescuers may reduce the efficiency of some tasks and cause difficulties in extinguishing fires.
It is also emphasized that this situation weakens the combat readiness of rescue services.
