Interest of Uzbeks in studying abroad has decreased

In January-November 2025, 27.8 thousand Uzbeks traveled abroad for education purposes. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The National Statistics Committee provided this information. This figure decreased by 6.7 thousand people or 19.3 percent compared to the same period last year.
This indicates that various factors are affecting Uzbeks' interest and financial capabilities to study abroad. According to statistical data, Uzbeks most frequently chose countries such as Russia, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan for education.
Specifically, 6,235 citizens traveled to Russia, 5,943 to Tajikistan, and 4,219 to Kyrgyzstan. Additionally, South Korea (3,410), Turkey (2,381), and China (1,231) remain among the popular destinations.
1,074 Uzbeks went to Kazakhstan, 870 to the United Kingdom, 384 to Germany, and 333 to the United States for education. The numbers show that Russia remains the most chosen country among Uzbek youth.
Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan stand out as high-demand destinations due to regional proximity and favorable conditions. At the same time, Korea and Turkey continue to be traditionally popular among Uzbek students.
