Border posts will not be closed, operating as usual

The State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan has informed that the border posts in the country have not ceased operations and continue to function as usual. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This information was provided by the committee's press secretary, Husan Tangriyev. The news was disseminated by the kursiv.uz publication.
According to Husan Tangriyev, a document was signed by Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in December 2023 to implement a pilot project aimed at optimizing customs control. This project will continue until the end of 2026 and will be carried out on a trial basis at six border posts.
Within the framework of the project, certain stages of vehicle inspection will be performed by the Border Service. This experiment will take place at the "Bobotog‘", "Uchturg‘on", "Pap", "Ravat", "Rishton", and "Bekobod-avto" border posts.
The State Customs Committee emphasized that the closure of these posts is not planned and that they are operating under normal conditions. During the pilot process, if goods requiring customs clearance are identified, Border Service personnel will call in Customs Committee specialists.
Additionally, information about possible violations during passport control will be transmitted to customs authorities. Furthermore, an exchange of information regarding vehicles between customs and border services will be established.
The document also provides for the suspension of operations at six posts engaged in remote electronic declaration in certain regions. The staff of these posts will be transferred to a unified Customs clearance center or reassigned to other posts.
