Avalanche risk announced in mountainous areas

The O‘zgidromet service issued an urgent warning for January 16–19, 2026. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Due to the expected precipitation and changes in air temperature during these days, there is a risk of avalanches in the mountainous regions of the republic. According to experts, sharp weather changes can significantly increase the level of danger in mountainous areas.
The avalanche risk has been announced for the following regions: - Qashqadaryo region: Dehqonobod, Kitob, Qamashi, Shahrisabz districts; - Surxondaryo region: Boysun, Qumqo‘rg‘on, Sariosiyo, Uzun districts; - Samarqand region: Nurobod, Qo‘shrabot, Samarqand, Urgut districts; - Jizzakh region: Baxmal, Zomin districts; - Tashkent region: Bo‘stonliq, Parkent, Ohangaron districts (Chotqol mountain range); - Namangan region: Pop district. In this regard, the population is advised to take precautionary measures in mountainous areas.
Drivers traveling on mountain roads, those heading to recreational areas, and citizens spending time in high-altitude locations must strictly follow safety rules. It is especially important to increase vigilance when moving in mountainous regions.
