The most well-read employees in Uzbekistan are rewarded

In Uzbekistan, the employees who read the most books in all ministries and agencies will be encouraged. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Based on the President's decree, according to the results of the competition, such employees will be awarded a bonus equivalent to one month's salary. These measures are being implemented within the framework of the program "Developing a culture of reading and increasing interest in reading among the population."
According to the decree, by April 1, 2026, a "Book Corner" will be established in all ministries and agencies. In addition, a "Reading Hour" will be introduced monthly for employees, and an internal rating system will be established.
Furthermore, by March 1, 2026, a list of recommended literature related to professional activities will be compiled. Each year, at least three foreign professional books will be translated into Uzbek and enriched with annotations and examples.
Youth and students will also not be left out of the incentives. The 100 students who read the most books will be awarded 10.3 million soms.
Additionally, a Fund for the Development of Reading Culture will be established under the Youth Affairs Agency. In general education schools, "Following the Jadids" reading clubs will operate.
The main goal of this decree is to develop reading among the population during 2026–2030 and to ensure that each person reads an average of 10 books per year. The fund's resources will be directed towards supporting young writers, developing children's literature, and encouraging talented authors.
