New customs privileges granted to local manufacturers
According to the decree of the President of Uzbekistan dated January 19, 2024, new customs privileges have been introduced for local manufacturers. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to this decree, customs duties on the import of 82 types of industrial raw materials and semi-finished products have been abolished. This was reported by "Podrobno.uz".

These privileges will be valid for two years and will remain in effect until January 1, 2027. This measure was adopted to support the real sector and to reduce the cost price of finished products.

Similar customs preferences were initially introduced in October 2021, but their validity expired on January 1, 2024. After a two-year break, the government decided to restore these privileges.

The list includes materials of strategic importance for various industrial sectors. In particular, raw materials for the textile and chemical industries occupy a primary place.

Among the duty-exempt products are caustic soda, caustic potash, castor oil, various chemical carbides and peroxides, as well as textile and organic dyes, titanium dioxide-based pigments, and glass-like enamels for ceramics. Additionally, polymer and plastic products such as polypropylene, vinyl chloride polymers, acetate films, and nylon tapes also benefit from the privileges.

Regarding textile raw materials, wool and cotton fabrics, linen fabric, artificial fur, synthetic threads, feathers, and lace products are included in the list. For technical materials, asbestos, filter paper, glued plywood, fiberglass items, primary batteries, and ignition parts are exempt from customs duties.

These measures are expected to contribute to the development of local production and ensure economic stability.
