Migration processes are simplified and digitized

According to the presidential decree, starting from May 1, 2026, new powers will be granted to the Migration and Personalization Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
From now on, foreign citizens entering Uzbekistan on the basis of an electronic visa will have the opportunity to extend their visas once for up to 30 days. At the same time, the processes of visa extension and registration are planned to be simplified and digitized.
According to this decree, the authority to issue work permits for foreign citizens will also be transferred to the Migration and Personalization Department. These changes are aimed at speeding up processes and organizing services through a unified system.
Additionally, starting from September 1, 2026, students will be automatically registered upon moving into dormitories. Furthermore, from February 1, 2026, citizens will be provided with a free Electronic Digital Signature (EDS) during the ID card issuance process.
