Avalanche risk announced in mountainous areas

According to information announced by the Hydrometeorology Service Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzhydromet), due to expected precipitation and changes in air temperature from January 21 to 26, 2026, there is a risk of avalanches in the mountainous regions of the republic. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In this regard, specialists are asking citizens to take precautionary measures. In particular, the avalanche risk is expected to be high in the following areas: - Dehqonobod, Kitob, Qamashi, and Shahrisabz districts of Qashqadaryo region; - Boysun, Qumqo‘rg‘on, Sariosiyo, and Uzun districts of Surxondaryo region; - Nurobod, Qo‘shrabot, Samarkand, and Urgut districts of Samarkand region; - Baxmal and Zomin districts of Jizzakh region; - Bo‘stonliq, Parkent, and Ohangaron districts of Tashkent region (especially in the Chotqol mountain range area); - Pop district of Namangan region.
Uzhydromet is issuing a special warning to residents living in mountainous areas, citizens traveling to recreational areas, and drivers moving on mountain roads. To ensure safety, they recommend avoiding dangerous routes, choosing safer roads whenever possible, and taking precautionary measures in advance.
