Prohibition of illegal data distribution through artificial intelligence

In Uzbekistan, responsibility for illegal processing and distribution of personal data using artificial intelligence has been strengthened. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In case of such a violation, the tools used in the crime, such as phones, computers, servers, or other technical devices, will be confiscated. In addition, a large fine has been imposed for this situation.
The amendments to the legislation were made within the framework of the "On Informatization" Law. These changes are aimed, on the one hand, at regulating the use of artificial intelligence technologies, and on the other hand, at clarifying the functions and rights of the authorized state body in this field.
According to the new amendments, a clear definition of artificial intelligence has been provided. It is considered as a set of technological solutions that imitate human knowledge and skills, independently learn, find solutions, and provide results close to human intellectual activity in performing specific tasks.
At the same time, relying solely on artificial intelligence conclusions when making decisions affecting human rights and freedoms is prohibited. The most discussed part is the issue of administrative responsibility.
Now, the fine for illegal processing of personal data using artificial intelligence or distributing it through mass media, the internet, or telecommunication networks can range from 50 to 100 times the base calculation amount. This amounts to up to 41.2 million soms.
This law came into force from the day it was officially published. Therefore, all representatives of sectors working with personal data — especially content creators, advertising, SMM, media, and IT professionals — must review their activities in accordance with the requirements of the law.
