A seminar on public procurement reform was held in Tashkent

A seminar dedicated to reforming the public procurement system was organized in Tashkent city on the initiative of the World Bank. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The event was held with the participation of Felipe Goya, head of procurement direction for the Europe and Central Asia region at the World Bank. This was reported by uzdaily.uz.
The seminar was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade, operators of electronic platforms for public procurement, as well as representatives of international financial institutions. In particular, specialists from the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and the Islamic Development Bank shared their opinions.
During the event, issues related to the development of the public procurement system in Uzbekistan were discussed. The results of the assessment conducted by the World Bank were presented, and recommendations were given regarding the current state of reforms, existing problems, and their solutions.
Additionally, special attention was paid to the implementation of the electronic public procurement system in certain sectors, the practical support of international financial institutions in this process, and the expansion of “green” public procurement. Monitoring mechanisms to increase the transparency and efficiency of the public procurement system were also discussed at the seminar.
The event became an open dialogue platform for government agencies, international partners, and experts to modernize and digitize public procurement.
