A $500 million paper mill will be built in Samarkand

A large factory producing industrial cardboard, packaging, and office paper is planned to be built in the Samarkand region. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
For this project, an investment of 500 million US dollars is planned by the Chinese company Hanrun Paper Company. Company representatives announced this during a meeting with the governor of Samarkand region, Adiz Boboyev.
This news was published on the uzdaily.uz website. According to the project, a modern production complex will be constructed and launched in five stages.
This complex will specialize in the production of industrial cardboard, packaging paper, and office paper. More than 50 hectares of land are planned to be allocated for the factory's operations.
Currently, land plots are being selected in the "Hishrau 2" area within the Urgut free economic zone, and these lands are expected to be auctioned soon. According to investors, this factory will be a unique large enterprise in Central Asia.
As a result of the project's implementation, nearly 3,000 new jobs will be created. Additionally, after the enterprise starts operating, it is forecasted that tax revenues of 50–60 million US dollars per year will be received by the state budget.
The regional governor emphasized that this project aligns with the region's socio-economic development programs and stated that necessary organizational and infrastructural issues will be promptly resolved to support the project process.
