A new record was set for electricity consumption in winter

It can be observed that the cold days of winter have become a test period for the energy system in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
On January 24, a new record was set for electricity consumption in the country. According to Dildora Khoshimova, Head of the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Energy, the total electricity consumption in one day amounted to 283 million kilowatt-hours.
Although this figure does not include small-capacity solar energy sources, the official record was registered with exactly this number. The previous maximum figure was 272.6 million kilowatt-hours in July 2025.
Now the new record is significantly higher than that figure. This indicates a sharp increase in the demand for electricity from the population and the economy during the winter season.
The energy system is striving to maintain a high level of production to meet this demand. On January 25, power plants generated 264.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, which was 103 percent of the planned figure.
On the same day, 246.9 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were supplied to consumers, which also exceeded the plan. Natural gas consumption was also high, with 144.7 million cubic meters of gas consumed on January 25.
For gas filling stations for vehicles, 1.5 million cubic meters of gas were supplied daily. It was reported that a total of 81.8 thousand cubic meters of gas was allocated for special equipment and public transport in the Fergana Valley.
Overall, the new record in energy consumption once again demonstrated the increasing load on the system and the necessity to maintain uninterrupted supply. The main task now is to ensure stable supply even under conditions of increased demand.
