Avalanche risk declared in mountainous areas

The Hydrometeorology Service Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzhydromet) has issued an urgent warning. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to it, due to precipitation and changes in air temperature on January 31 and February 1–3 of this year, there may be a risk of avalanches in the mountainous regions of the republic. This risk is expected to be high in the following areas: - Dehqonobod, Kitob, Qamashi, and Shahrisabz districts of Qashqadaryo region; - Boysun, Qumqo‘rg‘on, Sariosiyo, and Uzun districts of Surxondaryo region; - Nurobod, Qo‘shrabot, Samarqand, and Urgut districts of Samarqand region; - Baxmal and Zomin districts of Jizzakh region; - Bo‘stonliq, Parkent, and Ohangaron districts (Chotqol mountains) of Tashkent region; - Pop district of Namangan region.
In this regard, residents living in mountainous areas, citizens planning leisure activities, and drivers traveling on mountain roads are requested to take precautionary measures. It is recommended to be cautious when moving in areas with a high risk of avalanches and not to rush when passing slopes and areas with heavy snow accumulation.
