Uzbekistan and Spain develop labor migration

A meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan with Maria Asuncion Sanchez Ruiz, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Spanish Embassy. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During this meeting, consular issues, facilitation of visa procedures, and expanding cooperation in the field of labor migration were discussed. This was reported by the “Dunyo” news agency.
According to the consular-legal department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Uzbekistan is paying special attention to diversifying labor migration, that is, expanding employment opportunities for its citizens. In this regard, Spain is considered one of the promising directions.
During the negotiations, a number of important issues were exchanged. In particular, agreements were reached on pressing consular matters, simplifying visa procedures, and developing cooperation in labor migration.
The meeting also addressed the implementation of a pilot project to provide Uzbek labor migrants with employment in Spain’s agricultural and construction sectors. Additionally, an initiative was put forward to sign an intergovernmental agreement on “Mobility and Migration.”
The negotiations also discussed the proposal to expand opportunities for placing Uzbek citizens in jobs in Spain through the organized recruitment system — GECCO. The parties expressed readiness to strengthen mutual cooperation and work together to implement future plans.
If this direction is properly organized, legal and systematic employment opportunities for Uzbeks will expand. This is of great importance for protecting citizens' rights and regulating the process.
