Beef imports almost doubled in one year.

It has become known that in January and February 2026, Uzbekistan imported meat and meat products from abroad worth approximately 156.9 million dollars. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This situation not only provides consumers with more choices but also indicates increased pressure on the domestic food market. The largest volume corresponds to beef.
During these two months, 25.9 thousand tons of beef worth 120 million dollars were imported from abroad. This figure represents a significant increase compared to the same period in 2025, as last year 17.3 thousand tons and 68.3 million dollars worth of beef were imported.
Thus, beef imports nearly doubled within a year. Chicken meat imports have also increased.
In January-February 2026, chicken meat worth 13.7 million dollars was imported, which is an increase compared to the same period in 2025 (last year it was 11.4 million dollars). Although the quantity of lamb imports remained mostly similar, its price sharply increased.
For example, 8.1 million dollars were spent on 3.3 thousand tons, while last year only 3.4 million dollars were spent on 3.4 thousand tons. This indicates a significant rise in price.
Additionally, 5.9 million dollars were spent on meat by-products and 4.6 million dollars on canned meat products. These figures have also increased compared to 2025.
The most surprising aspect is the sharp increase in duck meat imports. In the first two months of 2026, duck meat worth 521.7 thousand dollars was imported, which is almost 35 times more than the same period last year.
Based on these results, urgent measures are needed to strengthen domestic production and stabilize price changes. Consumers are affected differently by the current price increases.
Some may reduce their choices, while others may pay more attention to quality. This will influence the future development of the food market.
