Fines for the irregular sale of medicines have been doubled.

Important decisions have been made to significantly strengthen liability measures for non-compliance with the rules governing the sale of potent prescription medicines in Uzbekistan. Zamin.uz reported on this.
According to the latest amendments to legislation, fines imposed for violations committed by pharmacy staff have been doubled. Previously, such offenses were punishable by a fine ranging from 50 to 100 times the basic calculation amount, whereas now this range has been increased to between 100 and 200 times.
Considering that the basic calculation amount for March 2026 is nearly four hundred twelve thousand soums, violators will be required to pay very substantial sums. Furthermore, criminal liability for repeat offenses has been made even stricter under the law.
If an individual commits another offense after an administrative penalty has been applied, or if they are found to have sold medicines illegally in large quantities, fines ranging from 200 to 300 times the basic calculation amount may be imposed. Additionally, it has been stipulated that a court may sentence offenders to corrective labor for up to three years, restriction of freedom for two to five years, or imprisonment for up to five years.
While the minimum fine under criminal liability previously amounted to 100 times, the new regulations serve to further strengthen oversight in this area. These measures are primarily implemented to protect public health and, in particular, to eliminate the illegal circulation of potent medicines among young people.
State bodies plan to strengthen control over the prescription-based dispensing of medicines in pharmacies and to wage an uncompromising struggle against violations. Citizens are urged to strictly adhere to established rules when purchasing medicines and not to voluntarily consume potent substances without a doctor's recommendation.
These initiatives will make a significant contribution to establishing order in the healthcare sector of our country and preserving the health of every individual in the future.
