In Uzbekistan, women make up nearly half of the population.

According to the National Statistics Committee, as of January 1, 2026, the number of women in the Republic of Uzbekistan totaled 18 million 979 thousand. Zamin.uz reported on this matter.
This figure represents nearly half of the country's permanent resident population, specifically 49.6 percent. Thus, it is clearly evident from these statistical data that one out of every two people in our country is a woman.
An analysis by region reveals that the female population is not evenly distributed. The highest number was recorded among women living in the Samarkand region, where more than 2 million 172 thousand women reside.
Following this region, the Fergana and Kashkadarya regions hold leading positions. In Fergana, the number of women is 2 million 91 thousand, while in Kashkadarya it amounts to 1 million 831 thousand.
In Andijan, Tashkent city, and the Tashkent region, this indicator also exceeds one million. On the other hand, the lowest number of women was recorded in the Sirdaryo region.
A total of 471 thousand women live in this region. The population is also relatively lower in the Navoiy and Jizzakh regions, amounting to 548 thousand and 776 thousand respectively.
Although the number of women in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as in the Bukhara and Khorezm regions, exceeds one million, their figures are slightly lower compared to Samarkand and Fergana. These data are of significant importance for analyzing natural population growth and regional distribution in our country, serving as a basis for future socio-economic planning.
