Tashkent air quality reaches dangerous levels, posing a threat to public health

On March 4, air quality in Tashkent reached a level hazardous to public health, prompting experts to urge city residents to remain vigilant. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to real-time data from the international IQAir monitoring platform, at 10:00 local time, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Tashkent stood at 151 points. This figure warranted classifying the air condition as "unhealthy".
The primary cause of air pollution is fine particulate matter known as PM2.5. Their concentration reached 55.5 micrograms per cubic meter of air.
This figure is eleven times higher than the World Health Organization's recommended annual average standard. Experts and medical professionals recommend that the public take the following measures.
First, it is necessary to limit physical exercise and prolonged stays in the outdoor environment. Additionally, keeping windows closed at home and workplaces, wearing special masks when going outside, and using indoor air purifiers are considered crucial.
Implementing these measures can significantly reduce the harm inflicted on the body. According to data from the State Committee for Geodesy, Cartography and Land Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan, continuous monitoring of atmospheric air conditions across the country is organized through 66 stationary posts and 23 automatic stations located in 26 cities.
Measurements to determine the level of air pollution are conducted daily at 7:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 7:00 PM local time. This system enables the public to obtain accurate and reliable information.
To protect the health of all citizens, constant attention to air quality indicators and a sense of responsibility are required.
