Cases of concealing crimes were extensively investigated in Tashkent

Extensive investigations were conducted in Tashkent city throughout 2025 to identify cases of crime concealment. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
As a result of these investigations, it was found that 954 decisions by internal affairs bodies to refuse to initiate criminal cases were illegal and were annulled. This was stated in the year-end report presented by Anvar Ormonov.
The report noted that 537 of these cases belonged to city-level authorities, while 417 were related to district bodies. Among the concealed crimes, 23 were classified as serious offenses, and in 3 cases, the crimes were not registered at all.
The prosecutor's office also established strict control over pre-investigation checks and preliminary investigation processes. In particular, 124 decisions to refuse to initiate criminal cases were annulled, and the cases were sent back for reconsideration.
Additionally, 70 decisions to close or suspend criminal cases were also found to be illegal and were returned for reconsideration. According to statistical data, a total of 30,600 crimes were registered in Tashkent city in 2025.
This figure represents a 4.7 percent decrease compared to the previous year. The majority of crimes — 16,248 — were cybercrimes.
Moreover, the number of preventable crimes amounted to 7,681, which is a 13.8 percent decrease compared to 2024. This indicates significant achievements in crime prevention.
Overall, the measures aimed at reducing the crime rate in Tashkent city are proving to be effective.
