Who and in what order is the license for practicing traditional medicine granted?
The press service of the Ministry of Health received a response to this question from Shahobiddin Gulyamov, head of the department of the Ministry of Health.

— The issuance of a license for medical activities in the field of traditional medicine is carried out based on the requirements of the single Regulation approved by the Cabinet of Ministers' decision No. 80 dated February 21, 2022, on the "Procedure for licensing certain types of activities through a special electronic system," says Sh. Gulyamov.

— This license is granted by the Ministry of Health only to legal entities.

For this, the legal entity submits an electronic application through the "License" information system (license.gov.uz) using its electronic digital signature (EDS).

The application will be reviewed within 30 days, and the fee to be paid for it will be twice the basic calculation amount. Additionally, a state duty of five times the basic calculation amount will be paid for the issuance of the license.

The following are required to obtain a license for medical activities:

  • The physician specialist must have higher medical education, a current qualification category in the field of traditional medicine, and a document confirming professional development within the last five years (for specialists without medical education, a certificate issued by the Republican Scientific-Practical Center of Traditional Medicine for completing a training course in traditional medicine is required);
  • The medical worker must have a document confirming completion of training in working with sterilization equipment (if sterilization is required);
  • Rooms intended for carrying out licensed activities that comply with sanitary rules, norms, and hygiene standards, which are owned or otherwise possessed;
  • Equipment and other technical means that comply with established metrological and technical safety standards, which are owned or otherwise possessed.

According to current legislation, individuals without medical education can also engage in medical activities in the field of traditional medicine.

For this, they must complete the relevant training course at the Republican Scientific-Practical Center of Traditional Medicine, obtain a special certificate, and establish a legal entity to obtain a license for medical activities in the field of traditional medicine.

Additionally, the list of medical equipment that must be available for the legal entity wishing to obtain a license is defined by the requirements registered with the Ministry of Justice on July 28, 2017, under No. 2905, in clauses 54 prim-1 and prim-2.

Obtaining a license for this activity requires coordination with the regional departments of the Sanitary-Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Committee, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change.

For your information, as of today, 131 legal entities have obtained a license for medical activities in the field of traditional medicine from the Ministry of Health.
