New rules and fines have been introduced for the use of agricultural lands

Important changes have been made to the legislation in Uzbekistan to ensure the targeted and efficient use of agricultural lands. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
By Law No. O‘RQ-1128, new regulations were introduced into the Code of Administrative Responsibility and the Tax Code. These changes are significant as they are aimed at the rational management of land areas and increasing productivity.
According to the new rules, users who have acquired agricultural lands on a secondary lease basis must plant crops in accordance with agrotechnical requirements along field edges, irrigation canals, and collector-drainage networks. If these requirements are not met, administrative fines will be applied to the responsible persons.
The amount of the fine is set from one to three times the basic calculating amount. To strengthen the control mechanism, an important task has been assigned to the Agency for Plant Quarantine and Protection.
By May 1st of each year, the Agency must submit information in electronic form to the tax authorities regarding landowners who have failed to comply with the requirements and their respective land plots. This information will be exchanged in real-time.
According to the changes made to the Tax Code, the land tax rate for land plots that are not planted or are not being used at the required level will be calculated with a threefold increase. This measure is of great importance in preventing cases of inefficient land use and ensuring food security.
The law comes into force three months after its official publication. This period allows land users to adapt to the established requirements and rectify deficiencies.
Such measures taken by the state serve to enhance the culture of productive use of land resources.
