Passenger and Flight Numbers Increase Significantly at Uzbekistan's Airports

The company managing Uzbekistan's airports has released its report for the first quarter of 2026, as reported by Zamin.uz. According to the data, a steady growth in passenger traffic, the number of flights performed, and cargo transportation indicators was observed at the country's air gates during January, February, and March of this year.
Positive changes in the aviation sector are clearly evident not only in the capital but also in international airports across the regions. During the first three months of this year, the republic's airports served a total of 30,859 flights.
This figure represents an increase of nearly 10 percent compared to the same period last year. The majority of flights, specifically 22,885, were on international routes, while 7,974 were performed as part of domestic intercity services.
This indicates the population's growing interest in domestic tourism and the strengthening of international relations. High results were also recorded in the field of passenger transportation.
During the reporting period, more than 3 million 987 thousand people were transported through the airports. While 3.32 million passengers traveled to foreign countries, 663.5 thousand used domestic routes.
Overall, the number of passengers increased by 19 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2025. Such rapid growth demonstrates the increasing tourism potential of the country.
Tashkent International Airport traditionally maintains its position as the country's largest aviation hub. In three months, the capital's air harbor served 2.56 million passengers and handled about 19,000 flights.
At the same time, activity among regional airports has also increased significantly. Samarkand Airport leads among the regions with 376.4 thousand passengers.
Additionally, the airports of Urgench, Namangan, and Fergana achieved high performance in passenger transportation. There are also positive changes in the field of cargo and mail shipments.
In the first quarter, 19,783 tons of cargo were transported through the airports, which is 14 percent more than last year. Experts attribute this growth to the expansion of the geography of international flights and the opening of new air routes.
Such consistent development in the aviation sector serves to further improve the country's economy and transport system.
