Bonded Warehouse System for Imported Goods to be Introduced in Uzbekistan

A completely new procedure for the import of smartphones, laptops, tablets, and clothing is being introduced in Uzbekistan. In accordance with the relevant decree of the Head of State, bonded warehouses will be established to simplify the system of importing foreign goods and to develop modern trade channels.
This innovation will serve to accelerate foreign trade turnover and create favorable conditions for consumers. Under the new regulations, online marketplaces with special licenses will have the right to establish their own bonded warehouses.
The main advantage of these warehouses is that goods brought from abroad are stored within the country without paying customs duties and value-added tax. This allows entrepreneurs to save funds and significantly reduce product delivery times.
Citizens of the country will be able to purchase products stored in these warehouses online for their personal needs. A single customs duty of five percent has been set for electronic devices such as smartphones, laptops, and tablets.
This rate is notably more preferential compared to previous general customs payments. A slightly different procedure applies to the purchase of clothing and footwear.
For these goods, along with a three percent duty, value-added tax will also be levied as prescribed by law. It should be emphasized that all products purchased from bonded warehouses must be intended for personal use only.
The subsequent resale of these products for commercial purposes is strictly prohibited. The introduction of this new system will help make the import market more transparent and prices more affordable for the population.
It will also open broad avenues for international online trading platforms to enter the Uzbekistan market. As a result, consumers will be able to obtain high-quality and guaranteed products in a short time without unnecessary hassle.
