Unmarried Men Found to Have Higher Cancer Risk

New scientific research conducted in the United States has revealed a specific link between a person's marital status and the likelihood of developing malignant tumors. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The results of this large-scale study, conducted by scientists from the University of Miami, were published in prestigious scientific journals and attracted public attention. Researchers meticulously analyzed more than four million cases recorded between 2015 and 2022 among residents over the age of thirty across twelve U.S.
states. The results showed that men who had never been married had a 68% higher rate of cancer compared to married men.
Among women, this difference was even more significant, with the probability of illness increasing by up to 85% for unmarried women. Experts emphasize that these figures do not mean that marriage itself directly protects against the disease.
The main focus here is on a person's lifestyle, psychological state, indulgence in harmful habits, and most importantly, responsibility for their own health. Generally, married individuals tend to undergo regular medical check-ups and adhere more closely to a healthy lifestyle.
During the study, it was found that for certain types of cancer, the differences are vast. For instance, some internal organ cancers were up to five times more common in single men, while the risk of cervical cancer was nearly three times higher in unmarried women.
Scientists often link these cases to viral infections in the human body and their late detection. At the same time, it was observed that for types of cancer such as breast or prostate cancer, where medical screening systems are well-established, the impact of marital status was not as significant.
This once again proves the invaluable role of regular screening examinations in the early detection of the disease. Experts noted that these studies are primarily observational in nature.
In conclusion, marital status is not the sole factor in disease prevention. However, it can positively influence a person's overall lifestyle and medical awareness.
The scientists' primary recommendation remains constant: a healthy diet, avoiding harmful habits, and not skipping preventive medical check-ups remain the most reliable means of protection in any situation.
