European Union Imposes Sanctions on Two Major Uzbek Enterprises

The European Union has introduced restrictive measures against two large enterprises operating in Uzbekistan, as reported by Zamin.uz. The sanctions list includes Raw Materials Cellulose, a cotton cellulose producer, and the Fergana Chemical Plant.
It is noted that the Fergana Chemical Plant operates under the control of Rustam Muminov. According to information released by the international organization, products manufactured by these enterprises were supplied to gunpowder factories in the Russian cities of Perm, Kazan, and Tambov.
EU officials concluded that these raw materials were subsequently used for military purposes, and the produced gunpowder was handed over to the Russian army. The European Union viewed this situation as a serious violation and decided to take appropriate action.
As a result of the imposed sanctions, these enterprises' access to the European market will be restricted. Furthermore, their financial operations will be placed under strict surveillance, which is expected to significantly limit their international cooperation opportunities.
This decision may create new challenges in foreign trade and international relations for some of Uzbekistan's industrial enterprises. So far, no official comments have been issued on this matter by the management of the enterprises or the relevant government bodies.
