The Largest Share of Uzbekistan's Population Works in Agriculture

According to the latest data provided by the Statistics Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the majority of the country's economically active population is employed in the agricultural sector. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
An analysis of the distribution of employed citizens by sector revealed that the agriculture, forestry, and fishing industry holds the largest share. Currently, more than 3 million 132 thousand people work in this field, serving as one of the fundamental pillars of the economy.
The manufacturing industry also plays a significant role in the country's labor market. According to statistical indicators, over 1 million 699 thousand citizens are employed in this direction, ranking industry second.
The trade sector, particularly wholesale and retail trade, is also among the major employers, with more than 1 million 507 thousand people working in this field. Construction and education also rank high in terms of employment levels, with 1 million 450 thousand people in the construction sector and over 1 million 367 thousand specialists in the education system.
More than 719 thousand employees work in the healthcare and social services sector, while 637 thousand people are employed in public administration and defense. Hundreds of thousands of citizens continue their activities in the transport and logistics system, as well as in accommodation and food services.
At the same time, the number of people employed in modern fields such as information technology, finance, and insurance is increasing every year. It is worth noting that the permanent population of Uzbekistan is growing rapidly and has exceeded 38 million people.
Such population growth contributes to the expansion of the labor market and an increase in the demand for new jobs in various economic sectors. The reforms implemented by the state are aimed at providing decent employment for all segments of the population and maintaining economic stability.
