Uzbekistan has entered the top ten countries in the world in terms of water consumption

According to the water consumption index provided by the Worldometer portal, Uzbekistan has entered the list of countries with the highest per capita water consumption. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The published data specifically notes that water consumption in Central Asian countries is among the highest in the world, once again highlighting the need to improve the efficiency of water resource use in the region.
In Uzbekistan, the average daily water consumption per person amounts to 4,778 liters. With such a high figure, our country has entered the top ten nations with the highest water consumption globally.
According to analyses, the main water consumption in our country is driven by agricultural needs and losses in irrigation systems. The outdated irrigation methods and insufficient implementation of water-saving technologies are contributing to the increase in these figures.
The highest indicator in the Central Asian region was recorded in Turkmenistan, where one person uses up to 15,445 liters of water per day. Similarly, in Tajikistan this figure is 4,460 liters, in Kyrgyzstan 4,153 liters, and in Kazakhstan 3,397 liters.
It appears that across the entire region, there has come a time requiring a fundamental overhaul of water usage culture and infrastructure. In this ranking, Uzbekistan is joined by countries such as Chile, Guyana, the USA, Iran, Estonia, and Azerbaijan, which also occupy high positions.
The lowest levels of water consumption are observed mainly in African countries. For example, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, each person receives only about 32 liters of water per day.
This indicates a significant disparity in the global distribution of water resources and the opportunities to use them. In the future, to prevent water scarcity, every liter of water must be used wisely and holds great importance.
