President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev during his working visit to Baku. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At the beginning of the meeting, the head of our state warmly congratulated the President of Azerbaijan on the organization of the World Urbanization Forum at a high level. It was emphasized that the successful conduct of this influential event testifies to Azerbaijan’s growing influence on the international stage.
During the meeting, the sides discussed in detail the issues of bringing the strategic partnership and allied relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan to a new level. It was noted with great satisfaction that economic ties between the two countries are developing dynamically, in particular, the volume of mutual trade turnover has increased by more than forty percent since the beginning of the current year.
These indicators demonstrate the great potential of bilateral cooperation. The talks highlighted the need to develop joint projects in priority areas such as construction, mining industry, energy, agriculture, and tourism.
Furthermore, important agreements were reached on the creation of new production capacities through the efficient direction of funds of the Joint Investment Company. These steps will contribute to the stable economic growth of both states.
The heads of state also paid special attention to the implementation of joint projects in the field of transport and logistics. Views were exchanged on strengthening cooperation in the development of international transport corridors and increasing freight traffic volumes.
At the end of the meeting, the sides reviewed the plan of upcoming high-level events and agreed on the consistent implementation of all set objectives. The friendly and sincere atmosphere of the conversation contributes to further strengthening the ties between the two brotherly peoples.
