Plans are underway to introduce significant changes to the fare system in the Tashkent Metro in order to improve service quality for passengers and enhance the accounting system. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to the new project, the single fare system that has been in effect for many years in the capital’s metro is expected to be abolished. These changes aim to restructure the sector based on modern requirements and ensure financial sustainability.

Under the new system, the fare will be determined based on the actual distance traveled by the passenger or the number of stations passed. In other words, a passenger traveling a few stops may pay less than someone traveling the entire route.

Such a tiered fare system is widely used in international practice and helps ensure fair pricing. Setting fares according to route length also opens up new opportunities for developing the metro infrastructure.

At the same time, special subscription passes are being considered to provide additional convenience for passengers. In the future, citizens will be able to purchase daily, weekly, or monthly tickets according to their needs.

This preferential system will be especially beneficial for passengers who regularly use the metro on a daily basis, offering them significant savings. As a result, not only will passengers save time and money, but queues at ticket counters are also expected to decrease.

The implementation of the new fare system and tiered pricing will be carried out gradually. According to the plan, the new system is scheduled to be fully launched starting January 1, 2027.

Currently, specialists are studying the technical capabilities of the system and working on developing the most suitable solutions for passengers. These efforts are aimed at making the capital’s public transport system more convenient and modern.
