The government of Uzbekistan is planning to launch its ferries to expedite cargo transportation across the Caspian Sea. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Transport Minister Ilhom Mahkamov announced this in an interview with the “Uzbekistan 24” television channel. According to the minister, the new ferry routes will significantly simplify and accelerate the cargo transportation processes.
Mahkamov also emphasized that Turkey will be involved as a partner in organizing the ferry routes. Additionally, the railway project being constructed from China to Uzbekistan will positively impact the development of Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan transit routes.
These projects will further strengthen the country's transport infrastructure. It is worth noting that last summer, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev supported the development of maritime cargo transportation with Uzbekistan and proposed joining the Black Sea cargo transportation project.
Furthermore, Tashkent has previously announced plans to create its fleet on the Caspian Sea. An increase in cargo volume is expected along the “Middle Corridor” transport route through vessels under the Uzbek flag.
This will contribute to expanding the country's regional trade relations and improving logistics services. Overall, the new initiatives aim to enhance Uzbekistan's competitiveness in the transport sector.
