What did Donald Trump discuss with the President of Ukraine over the phone?
US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone conversation. This was reported by Deputy Chief of Staff of the White House, Dan Scavino. He stated that the conversation between Trump and Zelensky took place in the Oval Office.
President Trump rated this conversation as "very good" and it lasted approximately one hour. The main topic of the conversation was to coordinate the needs of Ukraine and Russia based on the two-hour negotiations held with Russian President Vladimir Putin a day earlier.
In his statement on social media, Trump emphasized, "We are on the right track," and asked Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Michael Wolsey to provide a detailed statement on the topics discussed in the negotiations. He noted that this statement would be announced soon.
According to the results of the previous conversation between the presidents of Russia and the US, the Kremlin announced that Putin supported a 30-day halt to attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure and issued relevant orders to the military. At the same time, Putin stated that the cessation of military aid to Ukraine by Western countries and the suspension of intelligence sharing with Kyiv is a key condition for a peace agreement.
According to the official statement from the White House, Trump and Putin agreed on the necessity of ensuring peace in Ukraine and stopping the fire.
President Zelensky, for his part, expressed support for the proposal to temporarily halt attacks on Ukraine's energy system, but mentioned that he hoped to receive detailed information about the agreements reached with Russia after the conversation with US President Trump.
