The United States Department of State provided important information on August 21. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Currently, more than 55 million foreign nationals holding valid visas in the United States are undergoing special scrutiny for potential violations of immigration laws. This was reported by the Associated Press agency.
Representatives of the Department of State stated that the agency continuously monitors visa holders' compliance with regulations. Each foreign national's visa expiration status, as well as any connections to crime or terrorism, is thoroughly examined.
If a violation is detected, the individual's visa is immediately revoked, and if they are within the US territory, they are deported. It was also noted that the number of revoked visas has doubled compared to last year following Donald Trump's inauguration in January 2025.
In particular, the revocation of student visas has increased fourfold. According to information released at the beginning of August, more than 6,000 student visas were revoked due to violations.
These cases involved overstaying, various offenses, driving under the influence, and support for terrorism. Approximately 4,000 visas were revoked due to violations, and about 200–300 cases were related to terrorism.
At the same time, visa oversight in the United States is intensifying. Officials emphasize that these measures are being implemented to ensure public safety and compliance with laws.
Foreign students and visa holders are once again reminded of the necessity to strictly adhere to all rules to live legally in the United States.
