US President Donald Trump hosted an iftar at the White House for representatives of the Muslim community and diplomats from several Muslim countries. Anadolu reported this.
This was the first iftar organized by Trump during his second presidential term. He began his speech with the words “Happy Ramadan” and stated that the support of Muslims in the US during the presidential elections held in November 2024 made him happy.
Trump announced that representatives from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UAE, Qatar, Lebanon, Pakistan, and other countries participated in the event.
“I want to express my special gratitude to the hundreds of thousands of Muslim Americans who supported me at record levels in the 2024 presidential elections. It was an incredible situation,” said the US president.
The politician emphasized that the White House administration continues to fulfill its promises to the Muslim community.
“We are engaged in diplomatic efforts to establish long-term peace in the Middle East, relying on the historic Abraham Accords,” he said.
He also expressed special gratitude to Muslims residing in the state of Michigan.
“As long as I remain president, I will be with you. I support you. I want you to know this,” he said.
Trump had also congratulated Muslims on the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. At that time, he emphasized his administration's commitment to “protecting religious freedom, which is an integral part of the American way of life.”
