Britain plans to recognize the state of Palestine

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to announce on Sunday the recognition of the State of Palestine. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

He had stated that this decision would be made if Israel does not stop firing in Gaza and take steps towards peace by July. The Israeli government and families of hostages criticized this decision.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called it “encouraging terrorism.” The US President also opposed this decision.

The British government explained this move by the severe situation in Gaza and the illegal settlements in the West Bank. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed this decision.

Currently, the majority of UN member states have recognized Palestine; recently, Portugal, France, Canada, and Australia have also announced their intention to follow this path. This decision is considered an important step towards establishing peace in the region.
