Elon Musk, founder and CEO of SpaceX, announced new goals for the future of humanity in space. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to him, due to advanced achievements in rocket technology capable of heavy cargo transportation, it will be possible to establish an independent and self-sustaining city on the Red Planet by 2055. Musk believes that this project will rely on orbital windows that open once every two years for flights to Mars.
The planet will require regular delivery of residential modules, food production infrastructure, energy systems, robotic assistants, as well as necessary materials for electronics and the rocket industry. Currently, SpaceX is developing the new generation Starship V3 rocket system.
This system is capable of delivering over 100 tons of cargo into orbit and is being built entirely on the principle of reusability. The previous version of the rocket was 121 meters tall, while the updated V3 system will reach a height of 124.4 meters.
According to the company's plan, initial uncrewed missions to Mars using Starship V3 are scheduled for early next year. Elon Musk emphasized that for humanity to sustain stable life on another planet, all pillars of civilization such as industry, food supply, energy sources, and technological systems must be implemented simultaneously.
