On April 13, Sunday, a missile strike on the city of Sumi in Ukraine resulted in the deaths of at least 34 people.
After the incident, Bryan Hughes, a representative of the U.S. National Security Council, emphasized that this situation once again highlights the necessity of peace negotiations.
"The Sumi attack is a strong response to why Donald Trump is seriously approaching the need to stop the war," he said.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also described this tragedy as a reason for peace initiatives.
Trump's special representative for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, stated:
"As a military person, I understand what targeted strikes mean. This strike is unacceptable. That is why Trump is trying to end the war."
Trump himself referred to this incident as a "horrific tragedy"
