OpenAI has reached a historic milestone as a leading company in the field of artificial intelligence. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Known to the general public through the ChatGPT platform, this company's value has been estimated at 500 billion dollars, making it the most valuable private company in the world. Major news agencies such as Bloomberg and Reuters reported this information.
Former and current employees of the company have sold shares worth approximately 6.6 billion dollars to investors. Initially, they agreed to sell shares worth 10.3 billion dollars, but many, believing in the future of OpenAI's business, withdrew from this decision.
Previously, the company's value was estimated to be around 300 billion dollars. As a result of the new valuation, OpenAI's value has surpassed Elon Musk's SpaceX company.
Currently, SpaceX's value is close to 400 billion dollars, ranking second among private companies worldwide. The third place belongs to the Chinese company ByteDance, owner of TikTok.
OpenAI's rapid growth is explained by the great interest in the company. According to data from July 2025, ChatGPT has approximately 700 million active users per week.
Through this platform, more than 18 billion messages were exchanged within a week. Interestingly, although one of the company's founders, Elon Musk, left the board of directors in 2018, he made an offer to buy OpenAI for 97.4 billion dollars at the beginning of 2025.
Additionally, in 2024, he also filed a lawsuit against the company. According to Musk, OpenAI's partnership with Microsoft and its shift towards commercial activities were contrary to its original goals.
However, documents released by OpenAI in December showed that Musk actually supported the idea of turning it into a commercial organization over time. But he abandoned this idea because he could not gain full control over the company.
According to Bloomberg analyses, the increase in OpenAI's value indicates intense competition in the artificial intelligence sector and growing investor interest. For example, at the end of September 2024, chip manufacturer Nvidia announced plans to invest approximately 100 billion dollars in OpenAI and supply chips for the company's data centers.
This shows that cooperation and investments in the field of artificial intelligence are strengthening.
